"Our aim is to collaborate with all stakeholders including Council to establish an environmental benchmark for other projects. Initiatives at Triptych have the potential to stimulate cost effective, sustainable developments throughout the City of Melbourne." Tim Elgood, ESD, Cundall
Sustainability
One of the founding principles of Triptych is responsible, sustainable development. Emphasis has been on reducing energy consumption and water usage and using low emission materials. Opening windows allow the use of passive engineering techniques. Cross-flow ventilation ensures reduced reliance on mechanical ventilation within the village spaces. Water harvesting helps supplement the building's water needs. Triptych will generate its own electricity to support common area power and heating needs through micro-generation.
Co-generation
Triptych will generate its own heat and electricity through a process called co-generation, another strategy aimed at reducing both body corporate costs and carbon emissions.
